Support My Writing Efforts
"To be a successful creator you don’t need millions. You don’t need millions of dollars or millions of customers, millions of clients or millions of fans. To make a living as a craftsperson, photographer, musician, designer, author, animator, app maker, entrepreneur, or inventor you need only thousands of true fans."
Kevin Kelly - A Thousand True Fans
Hi friends, Preslav here. From the first time I heard about blogging back in 2004, I have made it a mission to have one, and use it to share my knowledge with the world. Close to two decades, and various sites later, I am still here, and still doing my best.
I owe a ton to blogs. It is, in no small part, through them that I became what I am today. This is also the reason why I encouraged my team to build a community-focused search engine for blogs and podcasts a couple of years ago.
My blog has been my way of giving back to the community that helped shape my journey - from my first serious steps with programming, to the realization that I am more than just a person who writes code. I am a vulnerable individual pasionate about learning and creating in their purest forms.
And now, it is my time to ask for a little favor.
Why Subscribe?
Let's get things straight - this isn't about putting content behind a paywall. Everything I write will always remain free and accessible to everyone—just as the knowledge shared by others was freely available to me when I needed it most.
At the same time, I believe that valuable content deserves a little nod of apprciation if you appreciated it. Even the smallest contribution goes a long way to saying "I value greatly what you are doing. Keep up the good work!"
A small monthly subscription is a great way to send a signal to me that my message has reached out to you and has made your day a tiny bit better. This won't make me rich, and greed is not my intention at all. I am experienced enough to understand that the only way to be financially independent with your hobby is to turn it into your profession. And this is by far the one mistake I don't want to make.
Your subscription is also a great way for me to filter out the true fans from the rest. I want to know who you folks are, and if possible, meet with you all someday - whether online, or in person.
Note that this subscription is not a donation. It is voluntary exchange for a service I provide online (my creative iutputs). I report and pay every single cent to the tax authorities in my country, and treat this as regular earnings.
On the other hand, I will try to find initiatives to donate some of the money back to. After all, what is money all for, if it is not shared with those in need.
Support me in my writing journey. Become a valuable member of my community of true fans.
